As the 2022 elections approach, it is critical that the DLSU community is well aware of the candidates. A
well-informed vote is necessary among students, professors, and other registered voters as this would not
only allow the development of the society, but also the country. Further, we require a candidate with
platforms and initiatives that will address the country's needs and demands, once implemented.
With the upcoming elections, and with the number of students/voters who will be voting for the first time
in the 2022 elections, it is extremely important that they will be aware of not only the candidates but also
their plans for the country, since these are the same projects that will be implemented if they are to assume
office. Hence, as the Office of Chief Legislator encompasses the bills, acts and initiatives that are passed in
the community, the USG OCL intends to educate the audience regarding the platforms of both Presidential
and Vice-Presidential candidates, to contribute in making a well-informed voting decision. This project does
not aim to endorse any electoral candidates, but rather provide information and additional criteria for DLSU
students in deciding who to vote for.
HaLAlan 2022 will be composed of one activity: a synchronous round table discussion. Speakers in the
round table discussion will be professors from the Political Science Department, Br. Bernie Oca FSC, as well
as DLSU Students, and will discuss what makes a good candidate, the platforms and initiatives that should
be considered in response to the country’s needs on behalf of all sectors, and the criteria to consider in
making a voting decision. Students will also have an opportunity to ask any questions they may have during
the discussion proper.
III. OBJECTIVES
1. To educate and disseminate information to the DLSU community regarding the platforms and initiatives of
the presidential and vice presidential candidates.
2. To help students, who will be voting for the first time in the 2022 elections, to form a criteria in analyzing
what a good candidate is to them, as part of making their decision as voters.
3. To provide a platform of discourse for students in considering what platforms and initiatives should be
implemented in response to the country’s needs.
