Abstract: Contraceptives were still considered taboo as they were

immoral to specific groups and individuals. People keep dodging
discussing contraceptives, leading to illiteracy, particularly
developing misconceptions. In this case, it could put people at risk
for reproductive health. It could lead to unwanted pregnancy,
sexually transmitted infections, and improper family planning.
These issues could be addressed through spreading awareness and
factual information. To collect sufficient data, the researchers
prepared interview questions regarding the objectives of the study,
which are (a) to identify the reason/s why people use/do not use
contraceptives; (b) to compare people's perspectives about using
contraceptives; (c) and to determine whether or not the participants
are well-informed about contraceptives. The participants of this
research were ten individuals which consists of five heterosexuals
and five homosexuals that were selected through the purposive
sampling under non-probability sampling and utilized inclusion
criteria. The researchers used semi-structured interviews to gain in-
depth knowledge about the topic and obtain information through
querying to its full extent. The researchers interpreted the collected
data using an inductive approach, conducting reflexive thematic
analysis to thoroughly understand the perspectives of the
participants by identifying codes and themes. The results showed
that students used contraceptives for safe sex and pregnancy
prevention. The most used contraceptive was a condom which, in
comparison, homosexuals were more-informed than heterosexual
individuals. It was concluded that they already knew the pros,
cons, and existing misconceptions of contraceptives. Furthermore,
the study also showed that students were not knowledgeable about
other types of contraceptives apart from barrier methods. (150-200
