Objective : Produce artwork guided by different technique and styles or various

art movement.
Topic : Technique and styles or various art movement using Impasto and
Encaustic
Materials : Horizons Music and Arts Appreciation for young Filipinos LM, paint
or wax any available materials at home.
Concept Notes:

Impasto Technique- used in painting where paint is laid on a area of the surface in very thick
layers , usually thick enough that the brush or painting knife strokes are visible. Paint can also be
mixed right on the canvas. When dry impasto provides texture, paint appears to be coming out
of the canvas.

Encaustic Technique – which pigments are mixed with hot liquid wax. Artist can change the
paint’s consistency by adding resin or oil (the later for use on canvas) to the wax.

Criteria :

Artistic concept and idea ---- 20 pts.

Style and technique 20 pts.
Visual Impact 10 pts.
Total 50 pts.

Activity:
Materials needed: pencil, ruler, oil pastel (for impasto) or melted crayon (for encaustic)
Direction: Make an artwork using Impasto or Encaustic as techniques in painting in a 1/8
illustration board. 1-inch margin in all sides. Be careful in doing the activity. Ask assistance from
adults. Submit your artwork together with your envelope.
