SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 9

FEBRUARY 19, 2024


I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to
A. Define imagery and its different kinds;
B. Interpret a piece of music by drawing an image/poster; and
C. Show appreciation for literary imagery through the use of descriptive language
in expressing ideas.

IV. Procedure

A. Preparation
The teacher will greet the students and then ask them to pray and sit properly.
B. Motivation
The teacher will ask for the students' help to open the box and find out what is inside.
The students will take the envelope from the box and read its contents aloud in front
of the class.

C. Lesson Proper
The teacher will explain the definition of imagery and discuss its different types.

The different kinds of Imagery.


- Visual Imagery refers to the use of words that create visual representation.
-Auditory Imagery are words used to appeal to the sense of hearing.
- Olfactory imagery is the word used to stimulate the readers’ nose or sense of smell.
This technique uses descriptive language to recreate or simulate the experience of
smells.
-Tactile imagery is the use of words to stimulate your sense of touch.
- Gustatory imagery appeals to the reader’s sense of taste.
D. Activity
The teacher will ask the students to construct a one-stanza poem with any topic using
imagery.

E. Generalization
The teacher will ask the students a question, “Why is it important to use descriptive
language in expressing one’s idea?”

F. Evaluation
The teacher will play a musical sound and let the students interpret it by drawing a
simple image on an illustration.

The teacher will grade the students based on this rubric.

V. Assignment
The students will write a brief reflection on what they have learned about literary imagery
on the yellow paper.
