LAS 201 Water Security

Term Project Statement

My Major and Water Security

1. Overview
The term project replaces the final exam in this course. It is worth 30 % of the course grade, where
10 % is allocated for the in-class presentation and 20 % is allocated for the written report. The term
project is based on group work with a maximum of three students per group.
Students have the complete freedom to form their groups and choose their topics. The instructor will
interfere only when students fail to do so by the set deadline.
The report will be graded per group, whereas the presentation will be graded per group member.

2. Purpose
The purpose of this project is to construct a comprehensive and global understanding of the role of
water and sanitation in the 2030 Agenda. Moreover, students will gain research and presentation skills,
they will benefit from their peers by learning about new and diverse topics, and they will engage in the
constructive criticism of their classmates’ work and findings.

3. Topics
Students are encouraged to choose a topic from one of the dimensions of water security: society,
environment, or economy. The topic must be related to all students’ majors within the group. Groups
composed of students from different majors should select a topic which is interdisciplinary.
