Field Change Order A

Title: FX and SL Diverter 3M ID No.:

Applicability: Change related to:

FX IRSS Model 2850 and SL IRSS Model 2840 Safety
Performance
Information only

Purpose: To check and remove, where necessary, any sharp edges on the sortation system’s bin diverter.

Description of Change: Instances of sharp edges have been reported on the stainless steel of bin diverters for the
sortation system. An unknown number of diverters may have missed a process called de-burring during the system
assembly.

Cost: The time required to smooth all affected edges will vary by system size. Each diverter should take between
5 to 10 minutes to gently round (break the edge) and de-bur.

Implementation:
 Complete the update on the next call to the site, regardless of the equipment being serviced, and no later than
the next PM to the Sortation system (2 times per year).
 You do not have to remove the diverter from the sorter for this process. Limit work to edges not in direct contact
with the machine.
 Inspect the edge of each diverter for burrs and sharp edges. If you find a burr or sharp edge, (1) File the top and
bottom edge of each diverter with a file, trying to round the edge. (2) Finish the edge with wet/dry sandpaper
(320 grit works well) to smooth remaining rough edges left by the filing process.
 Coding (US): For all US customers, code the labor for the Field Change Order (FCO) to “DUG.”
 Reporting (US): Following installation of the field modification, click on the Special Instructions box and type
“Corrected System Bin Diverters.” Also, make a notation on the Service History Log.
 Reporting (US): Update your FBTAC with the library name and location after you service the system.
