1.2 Problem statement

According to a Student Engagement Insights survey by Cengage in 2015 , they have

investigate and discovered that 53% of college student claims that they are struggling more
with their time management in college than in high school. Also 78% of students claim to
struggle with time management throughout their college experience with and additional 9%
claiming to “always” struggle with this. In addition, 80% of college professors believe that
their students struggle to management their time efficiently “most” of the time. These
discovery shows that most college students certainly have a poor time management and
needless to say that these are not a good signs as it can effect them in many ways.

For most of the people that are facing difficulty in managing their own time, there
must be a few factors as to why this is happening and they may or may not realize what
they did wrong in planning what they are going to do either in a day, week or even in a
month especially among students. For instance, students procrastinating everytime doing
assessment or task given. Procrastination is a major sign of poor time management,
students always procrastinate by putting of tasks in favor of less important. This could lead
to having work done at the last minutes. Other than that, some students also having a hard
time determine their priorities and not having clear goals. These could lead to students
multitasking as they do not know what to be done first and how they are going to do them
properly. Lastly, students not having a proper and effective time schedule of their own or
maybe does not even have a schedule or planner and do things impromptuly.

There are certainly consequences of having a poor time management especially for
students. It could effect them in many ways and one of them being the quality of work done
are poor and dissastisfied by the lecturers. Work done at the last minute usually rush
students to complete their work quickly without having them thinking about the little details
of the work done. Next, physical and mental health of the individuals could also be effected.
This is because having a poor time management confirms that students do not have a fixed
time schedule especially sleeping schedule. Not having enough sleep could lead to being
stress and anxious easily. Students will also have trouble controlling your emotions and
behavior. Physically, it may also cause an individuals to getting sick more often as they
always feel tired.
