Hangul is the Korean alphabet since 1443.

The
credit of its invention goes to King Sejong of
the Yi Dynasty (1392-1910). Many Korean
scripts used a complex system of Chinese
characters before the Hangul developed.

However, Chinese characters couldn’t represent

Korean speech very well. As a result, King
Sejong (1397-1450) commissioned the
development of a phonetic script that was both
more efficient and easier for ordinary people to
read and write.

K-pop, short for Korean popular music is a

form of popular music originating in South
Korea as part of South Korean culture.

It includes styles and genres from around the

world, such as pop, hip
hop, R&B, rock, jazz, gospel, reggae, electronic
dance, folk, country, disco, and classical on top
of its traditional Korean music roots. The term
"K-pop" became popular in the 2000s.

Korean dramas, more popularly known

as Koreanovela or K-drama, are television
series in the Korean language that are made
in South Korea.

They are popular worldwide, especially in Asia,

partially due to the spread of Korean popular
culture (the "Korean Wave") and their
widespread availability via streaming services,
which often offer subtitles in multiple
languages.

Many K-dramas have been translated

internationally, and some of them have had a
significant influence in other nations.
In other countries, traditional television
channels have broadcast some of the most well-
known dramas. For example, Dae Jang
Geum (2003–04) was sold in 150 countries.

Korean dramas have attracted international

attention for their fashion, style, and culture.
Their rise in popularity has given a great boost
to fashion lines.
