Gear boxes G 3/50 and G 3/60

2nd and 3rd gears engaging fork

With the purpose of limiting the travel of 2nd and 3rd gears engaging fork and, consequently, to prevent rupture
of 3rd gear coupling body cams, the following modifications have been introduced on series:

MODIFICATION - A
(Introduced on gear boxes with final Nr. ...402813 to 403812)

As an intermediate solution and as indicated on fig. 01, a washer/chock (*) is now being applied on 2nd
and 3rd gears engaging fork. The engaging fork with 130mm of length is still being applied in these gear
boxes.
(*) - Application of washer Nr. 000988 017011, which thickness has been reworked from 1.3mm to 0.9mm.

MODIFICATION - B
(Introduced as of gear box of final Nr. ...403813)

As a definitive solution and as indicated on fig. 02, a new engaging fork is now being applied on 2nd and 3rd
gears (**), with length modified from 130mm to 130.8mm. By applying this new fork, the use of the washer
installed before has been eliminated (See MODIFICATION - A).
(**) - In spite of the modification introduced in the fork, part Nr. (302 265 06 02) remained unchanged.

In consequence of the exposed, when it is necessary to make an eventual replacement of 2nd and 3rd gears
engaging fork and/or 3rd gear coupling body, the following procedure must be observed:

• Check the fork length and, in function of the same, proceed as indicated in the modifications previously men-
tioned, that is:
- engaging fork with 130mm of length: install together with the washer Nr. 000988 017011, duly
reworked;
- engaging fork with 130.8mm of length: install without applying the washer Nr. 000988 017011.

NOTES:

• The new forks (with 130.8mm of length) have been initially identified by means of a white dot. However, con-
sidering the possible absence of this identification, we recommend to check always the fork length.

• The previous forks (with 130mm of length), eventualy existing in stock, may continue to be used, since they
are applied together with the washer Nr. 000988 017011, duly reworked.
• For vehicles inside the period of warranty , the execution of services should be made without expenses to the
Client. In case of vehicles out of the period of warranty, the politics of Stepped Courtesy should be observed,
as per “S.I. - Gr.: XPGT - Nr.: 05/97”.
For reimbursement, send a Claim of Warranty (S.G.) to the Factory, mentioning the number of this S.I.
