Prerequisites
- Basic understanding of loud and soft sounds.
- Basic understanding of sound.
- Basic understanding of sound source and sound receiver.

- Vibrations: a rapid back and forth motion.
- Sound: sound is created when something vibrates and sends waves of energy into our
ears.
- Soft sounds: Quiet sounds that can be heard by ear at a very low or faint level.
- Loud sounds: Sounds that can be easily heard.
- Volume: How loud or soft a sound is.
- Pitch: How high or low a sound is.
- Sound Source: The object creating the sound.
- Sound receiver: the object that receives the sound; ear.
- Pitch: How high or low sounds are.

Content/Facts
Introduction/Activating/Launch Strategies
1. The teacher will review with the sound scientists
- The teacher will tell the student to put on their lab coats and goggles to become
sound scientists. The teacher will also say today is test day so the students will
be reviewing what they have learned as scientists before they begin the test.
2. The teacher will review all the concepts that the students have been learning on the
anchor chart. The teacher will go over the anchor chart and discuss the following
definitions. Vibration; a rapid back and forth motion. Sound; sound is created when
something vibrates and sends waves of energy into our ears. Soft sounds; Quiet sounds
that can be heard by ear at a very low or faint level. Loud sounds; Sounds that can be
easily heard. Volume; How loud or soft a sound is. Sound source and sound receiver.
Sound Source; The object creating the sound. Sound receiver; the object that receives
the sound; ear.

Development/Teaching Approaches
3. The teacher will ask the students to get blockers from the back of the class.
4. The teacher will proctor the test and read the questions to the students out loud. The
students must complete the test and follow along with the teacher as the test goes
along.
5. If students fall behind they will receive extra time at the back table if they had missed a
question.

Closure/Summarizing Strategies
- The students will receive an exit slip on high pitch and low pitch sounds.

Accommodations/Differentiation
1. Students with ADHD will have their aid present.
2. Students with ADHD will receive extra time to finish or take test in another room.
