JAMIE CULLUM, A COOL POP-JAZZ MUSICIAN

Jamie Cullum is a British pop-jazz singer and song-writer who is well-known not only
for his impressive skills on the piano, but also for his charm and charisma. When he
was eight years old, he took up guitar, piano and singing because he wanted to spend
more time with his older brother Ben, who was also keen on music. During his
secondary school, Jamie taught himself music and even though he knew he was going
to develop a professional career in the field of music, he decided to study English
Literature at Reading University.

The first year at university was a bit frustrating for him because he couldn't concentrate
on music, so he decided to take a year off to continue teaching himself music. It was at
this time that he developed a special interest in jazz and started to play piano in cafes
and bars. Then, he decided to go back to University to finish his studies. While Jamie
was still at university, he managed to find time to devote to his musical career and
when he was only nineteen he produced his first CD, which became a local
phenomenon selling over 1000 copies in Jamie's solo gigs. After graduating from
university, he released his second album Pointless Nostalgic, but it was his second
studio album, Twenty Something, that achieved international success. Afterwards, he
released two more successful albums: Catching Tales and The Pursuit.
