STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

INTRODUCTION
I'm Jeevan Pushpakumara Alahakoon, Currently an HR Manager at Horizon Fisheries (PVT) LTD, Maldives.
Inspired by my father's profession as an Electronic Engineer, I passionately engage in repairing and
building electronic equipment as a fulfilling hobby.
My wife, Surangi Wasana Andrew, homemaker, provides a solid support system. I aspire to pursue a
Master of Business Administration in Business Informatics at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I successfully passed both G.C.E O/L in 2000 and pursued studies in commerce, achieving success in the
G.C.E A/L in 2003.

I’m a Business Management graduate from the Longlasting Education Academy, United Kingdom and I
completed it in November 2022 as a Graduate Diploma in Business Management (LA-UK Level 6),

WORK EXPERIENCE
At first I got the opportunity to work as a Senior Biomedical Equipment Technician because my Father
was an Electronic Engineer. And I worked in that field for 13 years. As in 2004 – 2013 Infotechs (PVT) LTD
and 2013 – 2017 at Qatar University.
During my undergraduate studies in Business Management, I identified my passion for business and
sought a change in my career path. In 2017, I seized the opportunity to work as an HR Executive at
Horizon Fisheries (PVT) LTD, a multinational company in the Maldives. Through dedication and
proficiency, I progressed to the position of HR Manager within the same company in 2022. Currently, I
have accumulated over six years of invaluable experience in this dynamic field and continue to contribute
to the success of the organization.

Having a change from a technical role to HR management, I see the MBA as a good step to deepen my
 understanding of global business, enhance leadership skills, and bridge the gap between technical
expertise and management. Doing this degree in Finland will help me to contribute effectively to the
business world with a well-rounded skill set

WHAT’S NEXT AFTER THE MSC?

We will return to Sri Lanka after finishing my master's degree to stand by our mother's side in their time
of need. Further, I will use my knowledge and experience gained during my master's degree to start my
own company in Sri Lanka.
