instances of the new Present perfect tense
lesson
- Is used to talk about actions that happen in the past,
however, it is unknown when it happened.

- We can also use this tense to talk about action that started in
the past and continues in the present.

How is the present perfect tense of the verb formed?

The present perfect tense of the verb is formed by Combining the

helping verbs has or have with the past participle form of the verb

►You use the helping verb ‘’has’’ when it is preceded by a singular

subject or pronouns like he, she, and it.

►And you use the helping verb ‘’have’’ when it is preceded by plural
subjects or pronouns like I, you, they, us, and we.

Let me give you some examples in this Sentence

Example:
Macky has slept all night. (sleep)

Singular Past Participle

Subject Form of the verb ‘’(SLEEP)’’

In this sentence the subject is Macky which is a singular subject thus

we will use has plus the verb slept which is the past participle form of
the verb sleep. And that makes our sentence Macky has slept all
night

In our next example

Example:

They have grown since the last time I saw them. (grow)

Plural Past Participle

Subject Form of the Verb ‘’GROW’’

We have the pronoun they which is a plural subject so instead of

using has we will use have plus the verb grown, which is the past
participle form of the verb grow. And that makes our sentence they
have grown since the last time I saw them.
