Palace of Culture and Science

This is one of the tallest and at the same time most recognizable buildings in Warsaw. It can
be seen from almost anywhere in the capital. The palace was established in 1955 on the
initiative of Joseph Stalin as a "gift of the Soviet people to the Poles". Built by Russian
workers, it has long been considered a representation of socialist power and the pride of the
People of Poland - this was the place where, in particular, the congresses of the Polish
United Workers' Party were held. From the very beginning, numerous concerts, exhibitions,
fairs and shows were held in its monumental interiors.
Currently, the palace, among other things, has drama and cinemas, museums, fashionable
pubs and the main Center of Warsaw Tourist Information.
Various types of exhibitions and fairs are also held here, including the International Book
Fair (since 1958). The palace has a conference hall for 3,000 people, a museum of
technology, a museum of the evolution of the National Academy of Sciences and a Palace
of Youth with a swimming pool
The tallest building in Poland, has 42 floors. There is an observation deck on the 30th floor
at an altitude of 114 m. On New Year's Eve, the largest clock in Europe was opened on the
roof of the Palace of Culture, its four dials are 6 meters in diameter. It is also the tallest
tower clock in Europe.
I don't know who, but I still like the majestic Palace building much more than all these
glass... And despite their appearance, it still remains the highest and most powerful. I would
call it Polish Empire State Building.
