Regional Literature
Definition
Local color or regional literature is fiction and poetry that focuses on the characters,
dialect, customs, topography, and other features particular to a specific region (Regionalism and
Local Color Bibliography).
In addition, regional literature is meant the literary traditions, written or oral, of the
various ethno-linguistic groups in the country, communities that, despite much internal
migration, can still be said to have distinct geographical settings or identities (Resil B. Mojares,
On Native Grounds: The Significance of Regional Literature, 2020).

Bantugan – Maranao epic
Indarapatra and Sulayman – Maguindanao epic
Parang Sabil hi Abdulla iban hi Isara – Tausog epic/ballad
Some of his famous works were The White Horse of Alih and The Devil Flower.
