Introduction/ At the Izmir University of Economics, time is a
huge asset for academicians and especially
Background for the students. Izmir University of Economics
is a wonderful place; however, getting from
one class to another is very difficult for both
the students and the lecturers. The sentence
they frequently use whenever they struggle
with coming to class on time is ‘The elevators
were very full’. We want to fix this problem.
We want to make the University a better place
than it already is and make everyone's life
easier. Lessons are 45 minutes, so students
need their own time for relaxing and regaining
their focus. With the breaks being 10 minutes,
this causes students to be late to their
classes. Also, the fact that the classes that
take place for lessons vary among the
buildings makes it hard for people to get there
in time. With an overcrowded number of
students in the university, ways of
transportation do not apply in general. If we
account for the midterm and final times,
reaching places on time is almost impossible.
Therefore, our university needs its own
improvements so all members of the university
can transport faster and easier. Elevators are
normally a luxury. However, at our university
they are a rarity. Students rarely get a chance
to get on the in one try elevators let alone
make it to class in time with when they get on
the elevators. The elevators in Izmir University
of Economics were installed in 2010.
Therefore, they are thirteen years old. Of
course, the elevators are checked on a yearly
basis. However, the check up does not
change the capacity or speed of the elevator.

 1) Building New Elevators: Our proposal is to
build new elevators at our university to
eliminate the problem of waiting too long in
Project order to use the elevators quickly. Elevators
Description will be used only for going up. Going down
the stairs is easier for students when going
up the stairs both requires more effort and
time. In order to accomplish this, the doors of
the elevators will not open after they have
reached the highest floor and left all the
students, staff, and lecturers. They will
reopen once the elevator reaches the bottom
floor. Therefore, the doors will only open
when the elevators are going upstairs.
Moreover, we will calculate the maximum
speed of an elevator so that they can go
faster among the floors. The elevator will
ascend faster because it will be empty.
Unless a staff member needs to go
downstairs. Then the staff member will use
an access key and the elevator will move at
a slower speed. In conclusion we may
shorten the standby time by making these
arrangements.

2) Personnel: New elevators will be built by

employees which will be sent from the
elevator company. The design process will be

 conducted by our team and the elevator
company, as well as the building process.
The installation process will be conducted by
the elevator company during summer when
there will not be as many students on
campus.
3) Procedure: The process will begin with the
designing process. This product will be
conducted by our team and the elevator
company. We will work together when
designing the ultimate elevator that will be
best in favor of Izmir University of Economics
students, lecturers, and staff. Next is the
building process. During this part tests will be
conducted in order to ensure the safety and
well-being of everyone. This part will take
approximately a month. Lastly, we will have
the installation part. This part will be
conducted during the summer. The University
will make sure no students are in the blocks
that will be having their elevators installed.
Each installation will be two to three weeks.
The installation process will be finished
before the school year begins.

Credentials Our team consists of a variety of subject
matter specialists with expertise working in
project teams, including computer
engineers, electrical and electronic
engineers, and mechatronic engineers. We
intend to engage an architect specialist in a
consulting capacity since we do not
currently have one on staff to ensure the
position and design of the elevator.

The designing process will take

Timeline and approximately a month, as will the building
process, and installing all of the elevators
Budget and making sure they all work will take two
months. Therefore, in total the whole project
will take four months. The budget will be a
total of forty thousand Turkish lira.
