GUIDELINES FOR CATCH-UP FRIDAY (FEBRUARY 2, 2024)

TIME GRADE 7
1ST PERIOD
FIRST 30 MINUTES
Learners gather their chosen reading materials and find a comfortable spot
Ø Teachers create a quiet and conducive reading atmosphere
Ø Brief relaxation exercises for a reading mindset (Guided Meditation--- please
download this video https://youtu.be/euCACO-KtHE?si=v0JEiJp9u6rOvqRj)
Ø Asking the students to ready their reflection notebook.
Ø Ask them to write and fill out the following:
12:40-1:40 DATE: TITLE OF THE BOOK:
PAGE NUMBER (START/1ST PERIOD):
PAGE NUMBER (END/3RD PERIOD):

LAST 25 MINUTES
Learners read independently or with a partner
Teachers also set a positive example by engaging in reading
Minimal movement or distractions; learners stay focused on their books

1:40-2:40 2ND PERIOD - Dedicated Reading Time

2:40-3:00 RECESS
3RD PERIOD- Dedicated Reading Time

QUESTIONS (TO BE GIVEN BY AFTER RECESS TEACHER)


3:00-4:00 1. What is your most favorite part in the story you read?
2. Are there any characters you particularly liked or disliked? Why?
3. How do the experiences or struggles of the characters in the book relate to your own
life experiences or those of people you know?
4TH PERIOD
FIRST 45 MINUTES
Ø Ask the students to bring out their reflection notebook
Ø Present the THREE questions given ABOVE
Ø They may answer the questions either in English or Tagalog
4:00-5:00 Ø Checking the students' answers

LAST 15 MINUTES
Ø Ask the students to ready the following materials (MAGAZINES, NEWSPAPERS,
SCISSORS, GLUE, CARTOLINA OR MANILA PAPER, DRAWING MATERIALS)
5TH PERIOD (PEACE AND VALUES EDUCATION)
FIRST 40 MINUTES
Ø Advisers and 5th period-teacher, pa assignment natin ngayung Thursday ang mga
materials na dapat madala nila bukas, Friday. Paki group na ang mga bata sa lima)

Activity: Peaceful World Collage


Ø Materials -Magazines -Newspapers –Drawing Materials -scissors -glue -
5:00-6:00 cartolina/manila paper
Ø Activity: Ask learners to make a poster or cut images and phrases from
magazines/newspapers that represent their vision of a peaceful world.
Ø In groups, they create a collage/poster on the cartolina. Encourage creativity.

LAST 15 MINUTES
Discussion: Each group shares their collage/poster and explains the elements they
chose, connecting then to the key elements
6TH PERIOD (HEALTH EDUCATION AND HOMEROOM GUIDANCE)
FIRST 25 MINUTES

LAST 30 MINUTES
6:00-7:00 In their reflection notebook, ask the students to reflect on their life, experiences,
thoughts, and emotions at this present moment. Consider what they're going through, their
goals, challenges, joys, fears, and anything else that feels significant to them. This could be
in the form of a journal entry, letterto themselves, poem, or any format they feel
comfortable with. Again, they are free to use either English or Tagalog.

Ø Check their outputs.
