**Main Character - Nate the Great**: Nate the great is a detective with amazing skills in
solving his cases. He likes to work alone, he likes pancakes. He doesn’t want anyone to interfere
with the clues or his case. He is great at communicating and always leaves a not for his mother
when on a case. He likes hot trails which is being on a case right after it happened.

2. **Setting**: The story takes place near Claude’s neighborhood, mostly in the streets and
stretches into Rosamond’s house twice. Nate roams the streets with his dog Sludge to find the
lost list that Claude lost.

3. **Plot**: The story circles around the lost list of groceries that Claude was given by his father
and he lost it on the way, so he asks Nate to help him find it. He lost it along the street which is
where he starts to look by tracing Claude’s route and which streets are between his house and
the store. As the story goes, he finds himself at Rosamond’s house where he finds her making
pancakes with a different flavor which she calls cat pancakes as they have fish inside. As the list is
later found as an odd recipe for pancakes, Rosamond had used as a recipe for pancakes yet it was
the lost list of groceries.

4. **Characters**: The most important characters are Nate the Great and Claude who had lost a
list of groceries that his father had given him. We meet Rosamond and her cats as she is in
possession of the list which she had mistaken for a recipe for pancakes.

6. **Themes and Lessons**: We learn a lot in the book, the idea of tracing your steps to make
sure you go through all possible answers and also having to recall them again in case you missed
something along the way.

Day 1: Page 7 to Page 23
Welcome to Wow Reading, reading time. Today we will read Nate the Great and the lost list.
In the detective talk, we learned that lost means something that has not been found or that you
don’t know where it is. In this book, please be aware where the story takes place, what’s the
main plot of this book, what are’s the themes or and lessons in the storyin this book. As you have
read through it, let’s look at some vocabularies to help you understand better.

Words:
Page 7: I was sitting under a tree enjoying the breeze with my dog, Sludge ,andSludge, and a
pancake. He needed a vacation too.
Breeze is the wind blowing gently. Vacation is taking some time off work.

Page 9, If I could remember, I wouldn’t need the list. Explain “Wouldn’t” Virtual hypothesis?
Things have big possibilities not to happen? Could and wouldn’t are used here, meaning Tthe low
possibility of remembering what’s on the list. then the list would not be needed.

Page 18: Rosamond smelled terrific.


Terrific means RosamondShe smelled good, as she was making pancakes and Nate loves
pancakes.

Page 20. I am making cat pancakes for my cats. Rosamond said, from a new recipe.” recipe is A a
list of ingredients of (food items) to make a meal.

Well, for today’s part, we know the story circles around the lost list of groceries that Claude was
given by his father and he lost it on the way, so he asks Nate to help him find it. Nate roams the
streets with his dog Sludge to find the lost list that Claude lost.

Welcome to Wow Reading, reading time. Let’s continue to read the Nate the Great and the lost
list from page 24. let’s have a look at go through some words for better understanding.

On the Page 26 “I, Nate the Great, say that we should keep anybody with sharp teeth happy.” This
is used as humor to represent a dog or rather any animal with sharp teeth that can cause him
harm.

Page 27: Sludge barked. Sludge barks funny. But that does not matter. Fang barked back.
“Barked” is used as past tense as this is a told story, but the use of “barks” presents a continuous
tense meaning that is how Sludge barks every time and not in this moment only.

Page 34: I took them apart. Took apart is a phrase, meaning to separate something.

Well, Inin this part, Nate has started to look by tracing Claude’s route and which streets are
between his house and the store. He went to Rosamond and Anne’s houses but nothing found.
Every case Nate took is a bit challenging. that’s all for today. Please record the book from page 24

show up is a phrase, means appear. Not show up means Claude Did not come or has not come.
Ok, in the end, a list is later found as an odd recipe for pancakes, Rosamond had used as a recipe
for pancakes yet it was the lost list of groceries. In this book, we learn that the idea of tracing
stepstracing steps to make sure we go through all possible answers and also having to recall them
again in case we missed something along the way. That’s the theme and lessons of this book.
