Palalaua College Under 16 students were the 5th school within Upolu to be introduced to Australian Rules Football, the end of October to January deemed to be the wet season in Samoa, it is more then likely we will be seeing a lot more rain, this does not get in the way of the Palalaua College U16s as they took to there sports ground on the 25th of October very keen to experience Aussie Rules, the rain being consistent and bucketing down over the students, the students learnt the basic skills of the game. AFLSamoa Development Officer Gabel Stathis was down there coaching the students saying The students yesterday after a theory lesson of AFL seemed very keen to get out on the ground and learn the game, rain wont get in there way of doing so, it is bucketing down today, which gave the students an opportunity to learn the game in wet conditions, its great.

TSUNAMI affected school Falealili comes together with the assistance of Aussie Rules.
In late September of the year 2009, Falealili a School located in the district of Falealili close to the sea bed on the other side of the island of Upolu was completely wiped out and destroyed by a tsunami leaving the school with nothing, all school building destroyed leaving no option to the principal but to relocate the school on higher grounds. AFLSamoa Development Officer Gabel Stathis took his program to the school giving the students and Introduction to Aussie Rules having 47 enthusiastic students participate in the program. Its just fantastic to see Aussie Rules being played away from Australian Shores, in a district of Samoa affected by the tsunami with the students faces lit up enjoying the game, Aussie Rules brings the College and community together.
