First the Basic structure of facility is made as shown in figure.

Then this structure is converted into

model and all the necessary equipment are placed on their specified locations using solidworks
assembly feature.

3.6 Improvements and Strategic Planned Design (Cognitive, PLO-2)

3.6.1 Interior of Facility
Following are some important factors which contributes great in the efficient working environment

3.6.2 Lighting and Luminosity

THE recommended light level for the normal working environment is around 30 foot-candles
(average) or 300 lux (average). In order to maintain light in the shop the lights are placed in the
roof. In order to spread the light throughout the workshop, white paint is established on all the
walls and a four feet yellow border in the beneath of the walls.
3.6.3
Fire Extinguisher and Emergency exit (Cognitive, PLO-6)
According to OSHA standards there must be a fire extinguisher [14] be provided within 50 feet of
the working area. For this very reason, we have placed 2 fire extinguishers at the entrance and the
exit side in the shop.

Figure 3. 15 Fire Extinguisher from entrance side Figure 3. 16 Fire Extinguisher from exit side
OSHA requires at least two exit routes [15] to allow quick evacuations of employees and other
building occupants during an emergency. In our facility plan there are two evacuations first one is
the entrance and second one is the exit gate. In case of emergency any of the side can be used for
evacuation. The emergency exit in our design is shown below in figure 3.17.

3.6.4
Material Handling Equipment and Office
There are cabinets attached with the walls, for accessories keeping and best material handling.
There is a 100 X 50 size office, which is mandatory for dealing with clients, keeping record and
other management related stuff as shown in figure 3.18 and 3.19.

3.6.5
Over Head Crane
Overhead Cranes are used in the sop to support processing and handling throughout the workshop,
the dead cars can easily be lifted and transported to their respective workstation by using this crane,
placed with roof of facility as shown in figure.

3.6.6 Other machinery and tools of automobile Maintenance
The other tools which an auto workshop must have are Car lifting Jack, tyres carrying racks, oil
drums, tyres jacks, air spray gun, air compressor etc. Below figures show the necessary equipment
that we have put in the facility.

3.7 Exterior design
3.7.1 Car Parking
The parking area important for those clients who are with their multiple cars and for those who
are in waiting for their turn, so the parking area is designed to maximize the no, of cars in
available space. There are three lanes each with 450 angle maintained in the front of facility as
shown below in figure 3.24.

3.7.2 Advertisement Board and Street lights
An advertisement and symbolic board is displayed prior 500 meter from the facility, so that the
customer must become aware about the workshop before it passed away. Also for lighting, the light
pole is displayed in the center which lit the facility at night time.

3.7.3 Greenbelt for Environment friendly system

Greenbelts [16] are effective tools for mitigation of traffic smoke and noise pollution. A green belt
is placed in the front of facility at the available non useable area as shown below in figure 3.27.

Chapter 4 Conclusion
Facility design is an important component of strategic planning, for it provides an accurate
assessment of the institution's physical environment and its working. The auto workshop near on
the road side provides people a way to get their cars repaired quickly and effectively. The
Importance of Auto Repair and workshops include maintenance which prevents further breakdowns
to the vehicle, It Saves Money and time. So it is concluded that, the facility is designed after
considering all important factors of facility planning and optimization techniques which were the
basic requirements of the project
