1. Course Introduction
The course covers grammar, reading and writing practice as well as an insight into the culture of the region. Students will learn
the basics of the language and be able to build up enough knowledge to read and write at a basic level. Given the subtle differences
between eastern and western cultures, it is beneficial to the students to be aware of such differences which are embedded in the
language.

Course Objectives The objectives of this course are:

• Have acquired the skills to read simple Arabic sentences.


• Be able to use simple sentence structures in speaking and writing.
• Become familiar with some aspects of the Arabic culture.

• Demonstrate an understanding of practical Arabic skills through training in oral, aural and written
Arabic.
• Understand and use basic Arabic sentences: the verb, subject and adjective.
• Demonstrate a familiarity with some aspects of the Arab world culture.

Course Learning After completing this course, the student shall be able to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to:

• To adopt Arabic dialect used in Jerusalem and the surrounding area.
• Students will study daily language, basic grammar, common vocabulary, and will begin to converse in
real-life situations.
• Studying the language in the area where it is spoken will speed students’ progress in understanding and
speaking.
• By the end of the course, students will be able to conduct basic, everyday conversations.
