Pollution and its diversity

Outline

Thesis statement: The array of species that call Earth home are succumbing to the effects of

pollution in its several forms which are soil pollution, ocean pollution, and air pollution.

I. Soil pollution.

A. Causes (Volcanic eruption, pollution by industrial and household waste, uranium, forest fires,

desertification and overgrazing).

B. Effects (Imbalance, inability of plant roots to absorb important nutriments, Storage of toxins

in parts of the roots and leaves, causing harm to humans and animals, spraying agricultural

crops).

II. Ocean Pollution.

A. Ocean contamination.

B. Marine’s species.

III. Air Pollution

A. Using fossil fuel, contributing to global warming (greenhouse gases).

B. Causing deaths such as heart failure, asthma as well as lung and heart injuries.

Pollution and its diversity

Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that cause

adverse change, it can take the form of any substance (solid, liquid or gas) or energy such as

radioactivity, heat, sound or light, studying the causes of soil pollution has caught the attention

of investigators around the globe because of the bad effects it has on humans, animals and plants.

The array of species that call Earth home are succumbing to the effects of pollution in its several

forms which are soil pollution, ocean pollution, and air pollution.

First, radioactive pollution has an immense impact on the soil caused by nuclear bombs, nuclear

energy and uranium. In second place, pollution is caused by nature itself such as volcanic

eruptions and forest fires, which is harming us by releasing toxic chemicals into the atmosphere

and the environment. Consequently, our soil has been greatly affected by mining and extracting

resources from earth, smelting minerals and the spreading of mining facilities releasing

pollutants damaging our soil. Finally, desertification, which is the loss of fertility in the soil, the

lacking of vegetation cover and the disappearing of agricultural areas caused by the burning

operations and the pressure caused by urban citizens requiring a place to live (Hassan Al- Taai,

2021). Therefore, soil pollution is divided into radioactive pollution, radioactive eruptions, forest

fires, mining and desertification.

Sadly, soil pollution is not the only type of pollution; ocean pollution is similarly dangerous to

our environment.

Second of all, the scientists who are confused on how to justify marine

creatures contamination such as whales and polar bears, and their evidences that the Canadian

waters are the source of these problems due to the huge amount of waste that has been dumped

into it, which is causing imbalance in nature. Furthermore, it has become evident that the sewage

and acid rains will increase the amount of diseases in marine creatures such as fish and shellfish.

Moreover, mysterious chemical mixtures are being dumped in the sea. Experts can only identify

a small amount of these chemicals and if they are highly toxic, an expensive project involving a

cleanup is required, and it can cost millions (Munro, 1988). Our oceans are highly contaminated

and it is affecting our sea creatures.

At last, we have air pollution, using fossils as fuel is the main problem. According to

doctors specialized in diseases studying, and additionally as stated in some reports, fuel

consumption by vehicle trips and industrial process is one of the main causes of air pollution, on

top of that according to these reports, air pollution leads to cardiovascular and pulmonary

diseases (Hryciuk, 1998).

In conclusion, pollution in several forms is ravaging the planet, harming the environment and

human health as well, due to the corruption and mismanagement of human kind, in a nutshell,

every kind of pollution leaves a huge negative impact on our environment. We as responsible

citizens, must take steps towards a better tomorrow. We must join hands to take various

initiatives and fight against this problem.
