Based on these characteristics, expound how a culture affects/influences language.

Cite an example to two characteristics only.

Culture is learned
The way a specific group of people learns to communicate or exchange ideas in a
community where everyone understands each other can be influenced by culture and language.
For example, you are born in a family that belongs to a tribe of native people also known as
“Higaunon” in hinterland places where people speak differently because of your tribe. In that way,
you will learn the culture from your parents and the community to which you belong especially the
language, because through exposure to the speech, actions, and traditions of your tribe in your
community you will be able to learn and adapt to it. Understanding your culture and history will
help you to know more about it and be able to interact and understand each other very well with
your tribe.

Culture is shared
Language as a means of communication can be affected by culture. One example is the
use of the words “ate” and “kuya” because in this way we can show another way of politeness and
respect to our elders not just a family member but it can also be used to address someone older
than us instead of using their name. It shows how cultural influences address a language, by how
people express social interactions through linguistic means.
