PHILOSOPHY REVIEWER

FREEDOM - an intrinsic and essential property of the person.

TWO ELEMENTS OF FREEDOM

VOLUNTARINESS- ability of a person to act of his own free will.

RESPONSIBILITY- refers to the person being accountable for his or her actions.

PHYSICAL FREEDOM- refers to the absence of any physical restraint

PSYCHOLOGICAL FREEDOM- free to make actions that he considers right and wise.

MORAL FREEDOM- refers to using freedom in a manner that upholds dignity and goodness.

SELF-REFLECTION- is a vital in proper exercise of human freedom

Freedom should also be exercised with regard for knowledge and truth

FREEDOM- is rooted in the human person’s self-determination and the exercise of intellect and
free will.

HUNTING AND GATHERING SOCIETIES - through spending time searching for food and having
no permanent territory.

INDUSTRIAL SOCIETY- used of specialized machinery in the production of goods and services

MARTIN BUBER- developed the” we relation”

HORTICULTURAL- cultivation of plants, fruits and vegetables and the domestication of animals
on a small scale.

SOCIETY - considered a product of deliberate actions by individuals who come together in


pursuit of a common goal.

END- Terminus and Telos

FEUDAL- If you own a land and let the peasants provide for your resources

FOLKWAYS- The less formal norms that arise from tradition and do not result in punishment

SUPERIOR CLASS- is not belong on social classes


Does society influence of the development of the sell, yes since we must socialize and deal with
other people

Justify that people and society have a very dynamic relationship because one cannot exist
without the other.

INTERSUBJECTIVITY – the interchange of thoughts and feelings, both conscious and


unconscious, between two persons or “subjects,” as facilitated by empathy.

GENUINE HUMAN INTERACTION – humans strive to achieve deeper and more meaningful
interactions and relations with other people. This can only be made possible by a genuine
dialogue.

DIALOGUE - a kind of communication where you receive, share, and use words, expressions,
actions, gestures and body language.

EMPATHY – comes from a German word, Einfuglung, meaning “feeling in”. It is the ability to
sense other people ‘s emotions or what someone else might be thinking or feeling.

AVAILABILITY TO OTHERS - Intersubjectivity tells us to be a being – with – others. Being


available for others who are asking for company, help or guidance is one way of deepening
human relationships.

ETHICS OF CARE - deals with the way people should act. The field of ethics involves developing,
defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong behavior.

ALIENATION - it is the opposite of ethics of care.

HELLEN KELLER (1880 -1968) - an American author, political activist, and the first deaf-blind
person to earn a bachelor ‘s degree.

NICHOLAS JAMES “NICK” VUJICIC - an Australian evangelist and famous motivational speaker.
He was born with phocomelia, a condition in which a person is born with no arms or legs.

ROSELLE AMBUBUYOG - the first visually – impaired Filipino to graduate summa cum laude
from Ateneo De Manila University.

RAYMOND MARTIN - excelled at the track and field events of the 2012 Paralympics. He was
just only 18 years old when he made history as the first Filipino American to win multiple gold
medals. He was born with Freeman Sheldon Syndrome, which causes congenital deformity.

MICHAEL BARREDO - is an extremely successful; businessman and sports lover, radio


personality, and former Philippine Sports Commissioner. He lost his vision after a vehicular
accident in 1979. He was awarded the Apolinario Mabini Award for Business.
JOMAR MAALAM - is a Filipino swimmer who was born without legs. He finished the Mt. Mayon
Triathlon in Legaspi and the Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championship in Cebu despite his
disability.

ISIDRO VILDOSOLA - born in North Cotobato. His arm was amputated because of an accident
when he was just 14 years old. He is a graduate of BS Secondary Education and won many
awards in various athletics competitions.

RICHARD NAVOR - was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. He is a BS Accountancy graduate and
received various academic distinctions and leadership awards. He was included as one of the
Top 10 Most Outstanding Students in the Philippines.

JOVY SASUTONA - is a painter who lost the use of his hands after a diving accident. He uses
his mouth and feet to paint vibrant slices of Filipino life. He was honored internationally, winning
first prize in the 2007 International Art Competition held in Vienna, Austria.

JESSICA COX - is the world ‘s first licensed armless pilot as well as the first armless black-
belter in the American Taekwondo Association.
