GOVERNMENTS, THE KEY TO SOLVE THE ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE.

As everybody knows, pollution levels in cities have alarmingly increased in the last century. In
fact, statistics shows that one in six deaths are caused by pollution. Furthermore, many of us
are aware of it and try to improve the environment by recycling, saving water and electricity,
reducing the usage of plastic, etc., but all these efforts are not enough and so, a question has
emerged: What are the future political implications of the nations to solve this issue?

According to recent research compiled by “The Global Burden of diseases project”, the biggest
environmental problem in cities is air pollution. In fact, 5.5 million people worldwide are dying.
On the one hand, because of the CO2 emissions from factories and exhausted fumes, and, on
the other hand, because of the tiny particles suspended in the air like dust or waste burning.
Therefore, there are many health hazards such as: asthma, cancer, birth defects, heart
diseases and strokes, neurobehavioral or neurological disorders, development deficits, etc.

It should be evident that governments must get involved much further and quicker to improve
the air, establishing new environmental policies to solve such an urgent situation. In addition
to this, the poverty of cities like Beijing or New Delhi makes international cooperation and
support crucial. The reason why they are the most polluted cities is because of their lack of
resources to promote an eco-friendly society.

To conclude, although we could make a big effort to fight against the environmental impact,
politicians do have the duty of guaranteeing the future of the children of tomorrow making the
most of their tools (laws, procedures, campaigns, taxes, educational projects, etc.)
