Honesty is more important than a value

In the world of education, of course, we are already familiar with the ranking or grades.
Schools seem to only teach knowledge to achieve a target value for the sake of a graduation
without paying attention to the character of a student in the future. A person will be regarded as a
student who is successful in their studies and as a worthy and high-quality resource by obtaining
a brilliant achievement. But nowadays, a lot of student succeed brilliantly using dishonest means,
one of which is cheating. The causes of a student cheating are pressure to achieve hight grades,
failure fear, and a lack of religious principles instilled in the character. There is still nothing that
can change the status of grades and rankings as indicators of a student's achievement.

People now view things in this way. Indonesians frequently regard value more than
honesty. Parents also take great pride when their children get good grades even though they are
obtained in a dishonest way, and instead choose to remain silent or even scold when their
children get grades that can be said to be unsatisfactory. Children of parents with exhibit this trait
will feel pressured and stressed, which will ultimately lead them to cheat in order to earn good
grades under the pretext of making their parents pleased of the grades they receive. Parents have
to instill in their children the idea that learning is far more essential than simply getting good
grades and that the process is much more important than the outcome.

Even so, the community should appreciate honesty in its truest form because it is difficult
to mold a child's character into that of an honest person. True that grades matter as well, but don't
let dishonesty take precedence over it. As the nation's future generation, children hold the key to
its success. As of now, this country's main difficulty is figuring out how to increase teachers' and
all other school stakeholders' knowledge of the fact that honesty is "the soul of education and
human life."
