Introduction

The burden of diabetes is high and increasing globally, and in developing economies like India,
mainly fueled by the increasing prevalence of overweight/obesity and unhealthy lifestyles. The
estimates in 2019 showed that 77 million individuals had diabetes in India, which is expected
to rise to over 134 million by 2045. Approximately 57% of these individuals remain
undiagnosed. Diabetes is one of the largest global health emergencies of this century, ranking
among the 10 leading causes of mortality together with cardiovascular disease (CVD),
respiratory disease, and cancer. According to the World Health Organization (WHO),
noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) accounted for 74% of deaths globally in 2019, of which,
diabetes resulted in 1.6 million deaths, thus becoming the ninth leading cause of death globally.
By the year 2035, nearly 592 million people are predicted to die of diabetes. Type 2 diabetes,
which constitutes 90% of all cases of diabetes, earlier considered to be a disease of the affluent
“Western” countries, has now spread globally, and has become a major cause of disability and
death affecting even younger age group.Diabetes has reached epidemic proportions in many
developing economies, such as China and India. According to WHO, the prevalence of diabetes
is growing most rapidly in low- and middle-income countries. The rapid socioeconomic change
in conjunction with urbanization and industrialization are the major factors for the global
increase in the diabetes epidemic, with other associated risk factors such as population growth,
unhealthy eating habits, and a sedentary lifestyle also playing an important role. We are trying
to develop an application which serves as a tool in regulation and monitoring of diabetes and
provide a list of precautions which helps in prevention of Diabetes.

Rationale

Aim of this review is to help user to manage their diabetes reversal program by providing
customized diet and diabetic exercises. It also enables user to stay on track with support from
our diabetes digital health diary that stores all their health records.

Objectives

To provide an effective tool for management and monitoring of Diabetes and to provide a
digital diary for Healthcare purposes.
Fasting Blood Sugar Level: Elevated fasting blood sugar levels, typically measured after an
overnight fast, are a strong predictor of diabetes.
A high BMI, especially when combined with other risk factors, can be a strong predictor of
diabetes.
Feasibility study

A feasibility study for predicting diabetes involves assessing the practicality and viability of
implementing a predictive model or system to identify individuals at risk of developing
diabetes. This study typically begins with data collection, including medical records, lifestyle
factors, and genetic information. Then, the data must be cleaned, organized, and analyzed to
identify relevant patterns and risk factors. Machine learning algorithms can be employed to
develop predictive models based on this data. The feasibility study should evaluate the
availability of data, the accuracy of predictions, and the potential impact on healthcare
outcomes. Additionally, it should consider ethical and privacy implications, as well as the cost
and infrastructure requirements for implementing such a system within healthcare settings.
Ultimately, the feasibility study aims to determine whether a diabetic prediction system can
provide meaningful benefits to both individuals and healthcare providers while addressing
potential challenges and limitations.

Methodology/ Planning of work

The methodology employed for diabetic prediction in this study follows a systematic approach
designed to ensure accuracy and reliability. Data collection involves the acquisition of a
diverse dataset comprising demographic, clinical, and lifestyle variables from diabetic and
non-diabetic individuals. Pre-processing steps include data cleaning, imputation of missing
values, and feature scaling to prepare the dataset for analysis. Feature selection techniques are
then applied to identify the most relevant predictors. Machine learning algorithms, such as
logistic regression, support vector machines, and random forests, are employed for model
development and evaluation, with a focus on metrics like accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-
score. Cross- validation is utilized to assess model generalization, and hyperparameter tuning
is performed to optimize model performance. The final predictive model’s robustness is
assessed through external validation on an independent dataset. Ethical considerations,
including data privacy and informed consent, are integrated into the research framework. This
comprehensive methodology ensures the validity and applicability of the diabetic prediction
model.

Facilities required for proposed work

• Android Studio IDE

• Firebase
• Android device / Emulator (Testing the Project)
• Personal computer
• Internet connection
• Android smartphone
Expected outcomes

Starting with healthcare management system care of all the activities involved in care such
as,registering patient details, maintaining records of reviews, diabetic diary , controlling blood
sugar , providing them with a diet which can help them to prevent and reduce diabeties. The
expected outcome of a diabetic prediction would typically be a risk assessment or probability
estimate of an individual developing diabetes in the future based on various factors such as
age, genetics, lifestyle, and medical history. This prediction can help individuals and
healthcare professionals take proactive steps to prevent or manage diabetes through lifestyle
changes, monitoring, or medical interventions.
It’s important to note that predictive models for diabetes are not definitive diagnoses but rather
tools for assessing risk. If you have concerns about diabetes, consult a healthcare professional
for personalized advice and testing.
