The Jungle Book

Chapter 3: "Tiger! Tiger!"

The little child reared by wolves in the jungle, Mowgli, is in danger from the man-eating tiger Shere
Khan. The pack leader Akela and the rest of Mowgli's adopted wolf family talk about the threat
Shere Khan poses to Mowgli. The black panther, Bagheera, offers to take Mowgli to the human
settlement so that he can be safe. Mowgli eventually agrees after initially refusing. On the journey
to the settlement, Mowgli is captured and taken to their abandoned city by the Bandar-log, or
monkey people.

Chapter 4: "Mowgli's Song"

In their city, Mowgli finds himself imprisoned among the Bandar-log. Even though he sees their
erratic and disorganized conduct, he maintains his composure and makes an escape plan. Mowgli
uses his cunning and cleverness to mislead the Bandar-log into assisting him by pretending to be
their leader. He leads them in a rousing song about his strength and superiority, which eventually
degenerates into anarchy as they try to follow in his footsteps. Mowgli finds his way out of the
chaos and meets up with Bagheera again. They carry on traveling together in the direction of the
human village.
