I am a pessimist, usually thinking through the worst case scenario

before taking on a task. In the short 23 years of my life, I have faced many

obstacles and doubts. It may sound crazy, but making important decisions

in life can feel like coping with through an immense crisis to someone

who struggles with decision-making. Similar to the inquiries posed by

Whitman in his poetry, he sees what appears to be a world full of

unbelievers and cities full of foolish.

I can empathize deeply because I've faced struggles, witnessed

endeavors around me yielding poor results, and at times, blamed myself

for perceived inadequacies. In those moments, I blamed myself for

viewing the world from such a negative perspective.

condition serves as a reminder that life goes on despite its dif culties. This

poem invites contemplation on the value of each person's contribution in

the midst of turmoil. Failing and making mistakes are valuable experiences

that round out my life narrative.

Like Within wrote:

“Answer.

That you are here—that life exists and identity.

That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.“

I believe that life exists because I resonate deeply with my beliefs.

Like a game, life gives us the freedom to choose our own route. No matter

how dif cult they may be, our experiences all add to the overall story of

our life. I draw strength from the idea that, despite struggles, I am an

integral part of the powerful “game” of life. Just as Whitman implores, I

nd the courage to face dif culties head-on and play my unique role in

the ongoing drama of existence. “O Me! O Life!” serves as a guiding light,

reminding me that, among questions and challenges, there is strength

within, and the courage to face life's dif culties head-on.
