Vacancy Announcement
Good Neighbors Mozambique is looking for Sanitation & Hygiene Officer based in Pemba.

Outline
Job Title: Sanitation & Hygiene Officer
Type: Full-time
Location: Pemba, Cabo Delgado
Name of the project: Community led Hygiene Improvement project in Cabo Delgado
Objective of the project: To build improved WASH conditions and enhance the capacity of school
and government on sanitation and hygiene control in Bairro Chiuba, Cabo Delgado.
Duration: Fixed-term contract for 11 months (May 2024- March 2025)

Main Duties & Responsibilities


 Develop the training material for General Hygiene promotion and Menstrual Hygiene Management.
 Conduct the general hygiene and menstrual hygiene management training in school.
 Coordinate with education partners, parents, and schoolgirls to implement menstrual hygiene
management in target school.
 Conduct hygiene awareness campaign in community with stake holders on International Hygiene
Day (World Water Day, Menstrual Hygiene Day etc.)
 Work with the education partners and government officers in identifying, mobilizing and sensitizing
target communities for MHM and sanitation promotion.
 Provide weekly and monthly activity report.
 Support coordination and effective communication between employer and the counterparts in the
field (Provincial and Municipal Government Offices, Schools etc.)
 Build and maintain good relationships with school administrations, local authorities, partners and
relevant stakeholders and provided progress updates throughout the project cycles.
 Participate in the WASH cluster meeting.
 Ensure all required inputs are timely provided.
 Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure the project schedule is meet.
 Participate in the development of new proposals.
 Responsible for qualified tasks instructed by the employer.

Required Qualification
 Bachelor’s science degree in environmental health and sanitation, Public Health & Sanitation, or
relevant field.
 At least 3 years of experience in implementing hygiene promotion and/or MHM projects, including
training design, delivery and facilitation.
 Knowledge and experiences of CLTS activity and hygiene promotion using PHAST kit.
 Work experience of hygiene awareness, promotion in school or community.
 Fluency in English spoken and written.
 Good computer skills (MS Office: Excel, Word).
 Working knowledge of English and Portuguese.
 Hold a motorcycle license.
 Age over 18.

Advantage
 Living in Pemba, Cabo Delgado.
 Fluency in Emakhuwa, Kinwani, Shimakonde (local languages).
 Work experience in Pemba or another District in Cabo Delgado.
