Purpose: This is the primary Bridge Upgrade DLM to allow newer Phaser 6700
Signed System Software DLM Upgrades.

The following issues have been resolved in this Bridge Upgrade DML release.

 PostScript Print Document Settings shows "Commercial" for Press when Black and White is selected.

 Sending XMPie Optimized PDF's Direct to printer causes images to print chopped and skewed and
grayscale.

 Fuser Cleaning Pages do not print when LUI is set to Spanish

 The value entered before time out in Enter User Name screen is not cleared when redisplayed the
same screen after time out.

 Many German and French translation errors in CWIS Tray Configuration.

 Downloading Measurements in general setting is getting incorrectly “Locked”.

 CWIS - Configuration Report: General Setup, Metered Toner and Saved Jobs for Reprint are not
adhering to specifications.

In addition, this SPAR release resolves issues that were also addressed in prior releases:

 Many single page print jobs sent immediately one after the other will cause delays in the internal
spool queue resulting in intermittent "Waiting to Print" on the Front Panel.

 PCL XL Error is generated when Printing some PDF Files.


 German translation issue in CWIS for Tools and Feature Access Status/State.

 The Hostname is not displayed in Job Accounting record when DNS name is not resolved.

 CWIS accepting invalid file formats over Print Tab Job submission.

 Downloading a PostScript font to the hard disk can cause a PS error: invalidaccess.

 The "Power on screen" displays the date and time of the printer instead of dynamic SW version
number.

 Deleted jobs from the Front Panel are not removed from the job queue and so the further
print/saved jobs are queued up showing processing.

 Printer reboots while removing all the saved jobs (at once) from CWIS.

 Printer doesn't enter into sleep mode when ‘Ready to low power’ time is set to be 5 minutes and
‘Low power to Sleep’ time is set to 10 minutes.

 IPP/IPPS: When SSL is enabled, Configuration Report shows the incorrect IPP Network Path.

 PJL command SET XMEDIASOURCE is not working

 dc131 NVM Read/Write Default values may be incorrect for two chain-links.

 dc131 LUI display not interpreting negative valued ranges from engine.

 Asia Time Zone "GMT +8:00 Kuala Lampur" not displayed properly.

 Printer will intermittently reboot when Black and White is the Device Default Setting.

 After manually applying NTP Settings in CWIS and then rebooting the machine, all NTP fields are
blank in CWIS and also in the Configuration Page.

 Line spacing changes when printing multiple copies of a PCL5 job after switching orientation.

 Certain Postscript jobs may cause infinite PostScript processing.

 Added support for 320 GB internal Hard Drives.

 Allows CentreWare Internet Services Properties page to display properly from IE 9 and Windows 7.

 Security Vulnerability Resolved: CVE 2012-2131 in OpenSSL version 0.9.8.v.

 Resolves Color Registration tool issue within Control Panel for certain localized languages.

 Resolves issue where Saved and Secure Print Job Type from a document name which contains
character symbols will not display in the Control Panel.

 Change default for Energy Saver "From Low Power Mode to Sleep Mode" to be 15 minutes instead
of 45 minutes.

 Resolves issue where Billing Meter Impression count is incorrect for Odd page doc with multiple
copies un-collated.
 The printer Front Panel and internal OS lock-up when connected to a network where IPv6 Multicast
Listener Discovery v1 (IPv6 MLDv1) is broadcast from the router.

 Large batch print jobs cause the error 316.159.09.

 Density errors can occur after prolonged monochrome printing.

 PostScript very light composite gray gradients or light gradients appear pixilated.

 PCL color table causes skin tones in pictures to be too red.

 Spot Color is incorrect from scaled Illustrator Art.

 Saving certain Admin passwords in CWIS causes an incorrect password message even though the
password is correct.

 IP filtering not working unless the printer has a DNS Verified Host Name.

 Selecting the “Colors Too Light or Too Dark” in the Front Panel Tools / Troubleshooting / Resolve
Problems crashes the Front Panel when set to any language other than English.

 Re-Enabling Tray Configuration / Auto Select in CWIS does not remain enabled after a power cycle.

 PDF direct submission scales the printed output when it should not.

 Security Vulnerabilities Resolved: CVE-2012-1182, CVE-2012-0870, CVE-2011-4885, CVE-2011-


0719, and CVE-2010-2063. Telnet port was removed from device OS.

 Energy Star settings can be set remotely via CWIS and SNMP.

 Local UI Language settings can be set remotely via CWIS and SNMP.

 CWIS AppleTalk setting was removed from the web page. AppleTalk was never available in the
device.

 CWIS NetWare setting was removed from the web page. NetWare was never available in the
device.

 Suppression of print report for hard drive On Demand Image Overwrite (ODIO) setting is available

 Settings for minimum Encryption Key Length (Certificate Key Length) in CWIS.

 Setting for 128 bit Cipher Encryption Strength, restricting CWIS Access, Preprinted Media Setting, in
the CWIS diagnostics page. Control Panel restrictions for Configuration and Billing Meters Reports,
About This Printer, and Job Name in the CWIS diagnostics page.

Installation Instructions

Read before beginning the firmware update:

* Do not interrupt system once download is in process. Interruptions or loss of power may corrupt the engine
firmware and render the system temporary unusable. (Service repair may be required to return the system to a
working condition.)

* Some of the device’s settings may be changed from their present value back to the factory default values by the
firmware update. It is recommended customers save the configuration page and use it as a reference to restore the
device’s settings after the firmware update is complete.

To print the configuration page:

1. Touch the Printer button on the device front panel.


2. Touch the Print Reference Materials button.
3. Touch the Configuration Report button and touch the Print button. The device will print two pages of configuration
information.

Note: The System Software version currently installed is displayed on the left column on the first page, under the
Machine Information heading.

Updating the FW over a network connection


To download a file to the device using CentreWare Internet Services (Windows and Mac):
NOTE: CWIS can only be accessed if the device is connected to a network that utilizes the TCP/IP protocol. The
device must also contain a valid IP Address.
1. From a computer, open an Internet web browser.
2. Enter the Phaser device's IP Address in the Address field, and then press Enter.
3. Click on the Properties tab. You may be prompted to login. Default account = ‘admin’, password = ‘1111’.
4. Click General Setup | Machine Software | Upgrades in the list of options on the left side of the window and verify that
Enabled is checked. If it is not, check it and click on the Apply button.
5. Click Manual Upgrades in the list of options on the left side of the window.
6. Depending on the browser being used, click the Browse button, and then browse to and select the
Phaser_6700_system-sw#08114010417600#.DLM file.
7. Click the Install Software button to send the file to the device.
The browser will display a dialog once the file has been transferred to the device. A progress indicator is
displayed on the front panel. Upon completion, the device will reboot.
