DAILY LESSON LOG OF M10AL-IIa-b-1 (Week Two-Day One)

School Grade Level Grade 10

Teacher Learning Area Mathematics
Teaching Date and Time Quarter Second
Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the
objectives, necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises and
remedial activities may be done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are
I. OBJECTIVES assessed using Formative Assessment Strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content
and competencies and enable children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly
objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guides.
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of polynomial
functions.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to conduct systematically in different fields a mathematical
investigation involving polynomial functions
Learning Competency: Graphs of Polynomial Functions (M10AL-IIa-b-1)
Learning Objectives:
C. Learning Competencies/ 1. Graph the polynomial functions ;
Objectives 2. Determine the leading coefficient
3. Demonstrate appreciation of determining the leading coefficient as
important skills needed to graph the polynomial functions
II. CONTENT Graphs of Polynomial Functions
III. LEARNING RESOURCES teacher’s guide, learner’s module,
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide Pages 99-100
2. Learner’s Materials Pages 115-118
3. Textbook pages Advanced Algebra, Trigonometry and Statistics pages 109-113
4. Additional Materials
from Learning
Resource (LR) portal
B. Other Learning Resources
These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that
pupils/students will learn well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the pupils/ students
which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing
IV. PROCEDURES pupils/students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice the learning, question their learning
processes, and draw conclusions about what they learned in relation to their life experiences and
previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.
The teacher reviews the previous discussion on graphing the polynomial
functions through its intercepts. She will then lets the students find the leading
coefficient and the degree of the following polynomial functions
1. y = 2x3 -7x2 -7x +12 3. y = x4 -7x2 +6x
A. Review previous lesson or 5 4 3 2
2. y = -x +3x + x -7x +12 4. y = -x4 + 2x + 13x -14x -24
presenting the new lesson Answer Key
1. ) leading coefficient = 2 ; degree = 3
2.) leading coefficient = -1 ; degree = 5
3.) leading coefficient = 1 ; degree = 4
4.) leading coefficient = -1 ; degree = 4
The teacher lets the students realize that the Leading Coefficient Test can help
B. Establishing a purpose for
them determine the end behaviors of the graph of a polynomial function as x
the lesson
increases or decreases without bound.
C. Presenting examples/ The teacher posts the cases in the four corners of the classroom and the class
instances of the new will be divided into four groups. They will have a some sort of a walk in all the
lesson station. They will answer the questions and later summarize their answers using
the table.
Answer Key
Case 1
a. positive b. odd degree c. falling to the left, rising to the right
Case 2
a. negative b. odd degree c. rising to the left, falling to the right
Case 3
a. positive b. even degree c. rising to the left, rising to the right
Case 4
a. negative b. even degree c. fallng to the left, fallng to the right
The class completes the table and summarizes the findings from the four
cases above.

The teacher asks the students “ What do you observe if:
