NASA Shares A Photo of A Cosmic Bloom That Looks Like A Rose As A Valentine's Day Message
Every year on February 14th, Valentine's Day is a celebration of love and affection. It's
a time to honor relationships by exchanging romantic gestures, cards, and gifts with
close ones. On this unique day, brands and businesses make sure to convey their best
wishes to people.
"This cosmic 'bloom' is a gift for your Valentine," NASA said in a statement
accompanying the photograph. NGC 3256 is a galaxy that was created when two large
spiral galaxies collided and merged approximately 500 million years ago. It is situated
approximately 120 million light-years away."
NASA explains the picture
The image was described by NASA as "A massive, face-on spiral galaxy on a black
background." The core radiates light very brilliantly. Dust spirals emit an orange-pink
glow at their centers all across the cosmos. Around this gas, the galaxy's stars create a
halo of dark gray. The halo splits into two tidal tails to the higher left and lower right,
respectively, each of which is made up of a long tendril of dust and stars. Numerous
small, distant stars and galaxies encircle the main spiral galaxy."
