ACTIVITY 1

Directions: Answer the following questions.

1. Why is the selection titled Chimera?

- It is titled chimera because the story tells about a woman being mix or sent to the past or a
different timeline.

2. Describe the protagonist (main character).

- The main character is fond of history, which is why she likes to collect antique.

3. What is the conflict in the story?

- The conflict of the story is that they belong to a different timeline from each other, Red is from
the past, while she is from the future. They can’t be together because they belong because of
this.

4. If you were the writer, how would you conclude the story?

- If I am the writer I will end my story with her staying in the past and staying together with Red.
Another alternate ending that I will make if I’m the writer is that she can freely go back to her
time and to the past where she can be together with red.

5. What insights have you gained from reading the selection?

- The insights I gained from reading the story is that we can never change the past but we can
treasure what we gained from it.

6. For you, does the protagonist represent majority of the young women in

this generation? Why or why not?

- No, because most young women of this generation don’t fell in love that deep so fast in this
generation. Most young women of this generation likes being courted and they take their time
before making a decision.
7. Does the story have the traditional elements of a story plot such as

exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution? Can you

point them out into the story?

- Yes it has the traditional elements of a story

● Exposition of the story is the part where she is introduce and some information about the
protagonist are given

●Rising action of the story is the part when she first time travelled to the past, where she wake up
with a different surrounding or room.

●Climax of the story is when Red tells her that he know how she can return to her own time using a
key he that was given to him by an old lady.

●Falling Action of the story is when she returned to her own time leaving Red in the past.

●Resolution of the story is the ending where she return to her hometown and visited the antique
shop where she bought the watch and she saw the son of red wearing the necklace, and he handed
over the necklace to her and tells her about what happened to his father and what he told him
about the necklace.
