INTRODUCTION
Rationale

Social media is becoming an integral part of the student's lives as students

are spending much time on social media and are considered as the largest
category of its usage. The impact of social media is observed in students’
lives as it provides them faster way to gain and access information, it also
helps them in communication. Social media has influenced students to
interact online.

With the evolution of the way education is delivered, social media has
become a significant part of these changes. With technology-based education
many students have utilized their social media on their studies. Although
social media is known for the benefits it presents to students, too much
usage of it causes problems including the decreasing ability to perform
academic activities, depression, and too much reliance on it. Depending on
how it is used, social media has its own benefits and disadvantages to
students.

Knowing how social media impacts the students’ lives is beneficial for all
parties affected. The information gathered will help parents and teachers to
be able to teach the students the proper and safe way to use social media.
These would prevent the occurring problems social media gives when not
used properly. Students would learn to give time for themselves and enough
time for their studies while utilizing the benefits social media has offered.
