Dual Enrollment Expectations - Contract Required

Dual Enrollment funding is capped at a total of 30 semester paid hours. The per term maximum is 15
semester hours. One dual enrollment class allows for ONE high school period of dual enrollment
release/scheduled time.
The student and parent/guardian must discuss with the high school advisor dual enrollment expectations and
responsibilities in conjunction with the student’s graduation plan. The student must be accepted into the
postsecondary institution, follow registration procedures provided by the college, and be officially registered
for a college course before any changes are made to the high school schedule.
Student must remain in “Good Academic Standing” at both the college and high school to remain in the
program. LCHS Administration may revoke a student’s participation in dual enrollment for reasons related
to academic progress, behavior, attendance, etc. The parent/guardian and student will be notified should a
student’s approval for dual enrollment be revoked.
The student may incur charges for specific course-related fees, such as a lab fee, books that are considered
optional or lost or damaged books. The student will be responsible for payment of any fees the college
indicates.
Students may incur charges for specific course-related fees (such as a lab fee), books that are considered
optional, OR fees/holds for lost or damaged college textbooks.
All attempted postsecondary courses and grades become a part of the student’s permanent high school
and college academic history and transcript records. These dual enrollment grades affect high school
class rank, GPA, HOPE Scholarship GPS and eligibility, college admission reviews, etc.
The Dual Enrollment Funding Program does NOT allow funding to repeat or retake courses. Students that
withdraw from two courses will no longer be eligible for dual enrollment courses or funding (effective
Summer 2020 or after).
The student and parent(s)/guardian(s) acknowledge(s) that should a participating Dual Enrollment student
withdraw from a college course, the high school will make its best attempt to place that student in a
corresponding high school course to meet course completion and/or graduation requirements. The student
will receive a “Z” for courses for which they withdrew before the cut off period, but after drop/add. If the
student receives a “WF” from the college, they will receive a 69 (F) on their high school transcript. Completing
a high school level course does NOT remove the “Z” or the 69 (F).
If a student does not show to the first day of their dual enrollment course or does not sign in for an online dual
enrollment class by the first day of class, the student will be dropped from the dual enrollment course and
put into a comparable course at the high school.
Students and parents are aware that the postsecondary institutions DO NOT share progress information or
grade concerns with high school staff. The final grade in the course is sent to the high school at the end of
the semester. It is the responsibility of the student to monitor their course grade.
