PRACTICE YES/NO AND WH- QUESTIONS.

1. Write questions and answers according to the information found in the paragraph.

What is the publication date?

What is the subject of the article?

What is the permalink?

What is the paper number?

Where is the article from?

Who use earplugs?

What is the recommendation for hearing protection in live performances?

Which are the dbA for in-ear monitors?

Which are the dbA for loudspeaker monitors?

Are they also often assume to reduce sound exposure?

What do I use safely?

What is the sound pressure level at the musicians´ ears with loudspeakers?
Which technologies where compared in the article?

Where is the affiliation?

What does the loudspeaker monitor do?

2. Create a conversation using words from this paragraphs.

Acoustical engineering (also known as acoustic engineering) is the branch

of engineering dealing with sound and vibration. It includes the application of acoustics, the
science of sound and vibration, in technology. Acoustical engineers are typically concerned
with the design, analysis and control of sound.

One goal of acoustical engineering can be the reduction of unwanted noise, which is referred
to as noise control. Unwanted noise can have significant impacts on animal and human health
and well-being, reduce attainment by students in schools, and cause hearing loss.[1] Noise
control principles are implemented into technology and design in a variety of ways, including
control by redesigning sound sources, the design of noise barriers, sound absorbers,
suppressors, and buffer zones, and the use of hearing protection (earmuffs or earplugs).
Acoustic engineers might work in acoustic consultancy, specializing in particular fields, such
as architectural acoustics, environmental noise or vibration control.

Conversation:

C: Hello Carlos how are you?

Ca: Hi Cesar, I'm fine and you?
C: I'm still fine, what is your life, what do you do?
Ca: Well, I'll tell you that I'm an acoustic engineer.
C: Good, and what does an acoustic engineer do?
Ca: Well, I take care of the sound and the vibrations that exist in an environment
C: What is sound for an acoustic engineer?
Ca: It is a sound wave is the gradual propagation of a disturbance characterized by a vibration of the
molecules of the medium around their equilibrium positions.
C: what is noise control?
Ca: Noise control consists of the set of measures taken to ensure acceptable noise levels in accordance
with current legislation
C: what are noise barriers?
Ca: A noise barrier is an exterior structure designed to reduce noise pollution. It is commonly called a sonic
wall or sound barrier.
C: Very good, I'm glad to see that you are a good professional and above all that it went well for you but I
have to go see you later Carlos
Ca: Thank you very much Cesar, nice to have seen you for a long time see you later
The listed subdisciplines of acoustical engineering are: aeroacoustics, Audio signal processing,
Architectural acoustics, Bioacoustics, Electroacoustics, Environmental noise, Musical
acoustics, Noise control, Psychoacoustics, Speech, Ultrasonics, Underwater acoustics,
