Immigrants experiences

Chinese exclusion act

In 1882, it was passed a law that
excluded all Chinese workers to
migrate to USA. People blamed
Chinese people for all the problems
they were having. It obviously had a
bad impact because United States was
a good place to settle. Also Chinese
people who were in USA before this
law had many problems
Gentleman’s Agreement
Due to the tension and the hostilities
between USA and Japan, they accorded
an agreement. Japan would limit the
number of immigrants and USA would
not be as strict as they were being with
them. This had a good impact on the life
of immigrants because they were treated
as United States citizens. They only
problem was the racism they could
suffer.
Immigration Act of 1924
¿En que consiste el Octavario?
The Immigration act of 1924 was a law that
stablished a quota of immigration. That quota
was : the 2% of the number of USA people
with origin in the country according to the
1890 census. This could be good or bad. Good
because there was always going to be place
for immigrants but bad because there would
not going to be place for everyone
