How to ask and tell the date

in Egyptian Arabic

Months of the year (‫)شهور السنة‬: The simplest way to ask what the date is in Egyptian
Arabic is to use this expression:

January - yanayir (‫)يناير‬ i-taree5 eyh? (‫)التاريخ ايه؟‬

February - febrayir (‫)فبراير‬
March - maris (‫)مارس‬ This word, taree5, means both date and history. In this
case you're literally asking the date is what?
April - abreel (‫)أبريل‬
May - mayu (‫)مايو‬ To respond to this you can simply use number +
June - yuniya (‫)يونيه‬ month. For example, January 1 or 1st of January in
Egyptian Arabic is simply 1 January:
July - yuliya (‫)يوليه‬
August - aghostos (‫)أغسطس‬ wa7id yanayir (‫)واحد يناير‬
September - sebtembir (‫)سبتمبر‬
ٍ s you'll hear in the last sample sentence, to include
A
October - oktubir (‫)أكتوبر‬ the year in your reply you say the day first, followed by
November -nufembir (‫)نوفمبر‬ the month and then the year. So the 29th of May, 2014
December - disembir (‫)ديسمبر‬ would be:

tisa3 wa 3ishreen mayu al-fayn u arb3atashir

(‫)تسعة وعشرين مايو الفين واربعتاشر‬
