A INTRODUCTION to the STUDIO CLOCK ‘The Studio Clock is a “Swiss Army Knife". There are a lot of things that it can do. It is really two seperate units in one. The SMPTE to MIDI UNIT (SMU) and the DETECTING UNIT (TDU). They can work ly or work together to do TEMPO MAPPING. The Studio Clock also has a PROGRAM CUE in which different parameters (like tempo ot offsets) can be programmed to change at certain bars in the song. Finally, there is a Default section in which commonly used global settings are made. Since it is easy to become confused by a new device which can do many things we will begin this manual with a chart of what functions (FUNCTION CHART) are part of the SMPTE to MIDI UNIT (SMU) and which are part of the TEMPO DETECTING UNIT (TDU). This will be followed by a description of these functions (FUNCTION DESCRIPTION), a "GOALS" section (how do I make it do this), and finally a step by step "BUTTON PUSHING?” section on the exact order of buttons to push to make it perform a certain function. To review, the manual will be divided into: 1) FUNCTION CHART 2) FUNCTION DESCRIPTION 3) GOALS 4) BUTTON PUSHES ‘We suggest that you read the first section in the BUTTON PUSHES part of the manual on how to operate the front panel of the Studio Clock. The section ig titled “USING THE STUDIO CLOCK CONTROLS - A Quick Exercise, mL i Aphex Systems Lid. ‘Studio Glock Manual Pot NCTI _—____—___—| ‘This char is a listing of the fearures and functions of the Studio Clock. Iris also the "INDEX" for the manual. Numbers following each twpic listed refer to other sections in this manual. See box below, ‘You will notice that some functions apply to both the SMPTE to MIDI UNIT (SMU) and the TEMPO DETECTING UNIT (TDU), } Nomi format shown below refer to sections im the manu | [contain more information on. topic.
