Properties of Triangles
A triangle is a polygon with three sides and three angles. A polygon is a closed, flat-
shaped figure whose sides are made up of line segments. The line segments are called sides
and do not cross each other. The sum of all the angles of a triangle is 180°.

EXAMPLE:

This is an equilateral triangle. From the root word “equi” means

equal and “lateral” means sides. All of the sides of this triangle are
equal.

This is an isosceles triangle. From the Greek root “isos” means

equal, and “skelos” means legs. This triangle has two equal sides.

This is a scalene triangle. From Greek word “skalēnos” means

uneven. This triangle has no equal sides.
