Year 2 IPC home learning challenges

SENSATIONAL
Over the course of the unit there are five IPC challenges. You are expected to complete one of the
challenges.
Due date: Friday, 29th March 2024
Challenge One: Nature Photo Frame. Challenge Two (Art Link)

Go on a treasure hunt around your garden or near your
home.
Decide what type of material you would like your photo
frame to be made out of. It could be made out of twigs,
flowers, pebbles, etc.
Create your photo frame in a square shape.
Using your collected items, create a picture inside your
photo frame. Below are some examples:
Challenge: Circle painting art
You are going to produce original works of art for the painting of circles.
• Watercolour or poster paint are the specific mediums you can
use for the artwork. You'll benefit from the addition of supplies
like paintbrushes, palettes, pencils, and marker pens for the
painting.
• The image is the size of an art block on a sheet of drawing
paper.

Take a picture with an explanation of your frame and

upload it at Teams.
Challenge Three: Design an advertisement.
You have a chance to design your own advertisement
that would encourage people to try a new food, air
freshener, or holiday destination.
Your design must include:
• Thoughts about how your advertisement can
appeal to the senses using language, colour and
other visual cues (such as steam rising from hot
food, a waft of ‘fresh scented air’, clear blue
skies, shiny surfaces, and so on).
Challenge Four: Create a wind chime.
Have you ever wondered what other purposes the wind chime apart from
being a decoration in the garden? The Wind chime is also known as a
percussion musical instrument. The decorative materials used to make
wind chimes are not only to captivate your eyes but also to soothe your
nerves with the sounds produced when the wind blows.
How about making your wind chime using any possible materials?
Think about soup cans, seashells, CDs, wood sticks, spoons, beads,
buttons, etc.
Use any possible materials to construct your wind chime mobile as
suggested: Empty plastic bottle, cleaned soup can, string, seashells,
wood stick, CDs, and strong adhesive glue.

Challenge Five (Super Challenge): Changing materials.

There are various of materials around us with its own purposes. Materials also went through a process of change from its original state
to something that we use in our daily lives. Example: wood to chair, metal to tables, fabric to clothes, etc. Now, you are going to create
a dollhouse using recycle materials. You may use your creativity to create and design the furniture in your dollhouse to look
comfortable and realistic. Kindly use recycle materials to create your furniture and the house. You may use shoe boxes, cardboard
boxes, plastic bottles, etc.

In addition, kindly prepare a short writing (one paragraph or more) about the changes that happened to the materials that you used to
create your doll house. (Example: I used a cut out cardboard box to create the bed. I folded the sides of it to form a rectangle.)
