What day is National Librarian Day?


The 12th of August is being celebrated as National Librarian's Day in remembrance of Dr
S.R Ranganathan who has immense contribution in the field of Library and information science and
known as the father of Library Science of India. Ranganathan was awarded Padma Shri for his valuable
contributions to Library Science.

What is National Library Week in India?


Since 1968, 14–20 November has been celebrated as National Library Week all over
India and various programs are organised to let the public know about the libraries. In View
of this our institution Celebrated Library week in the Library hall on November 19th, 2022.

When Book Week celebrated in India?


National Book Week is celebrated ever year to celebrate the birthday of the first Prime Minister of India,
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The celebration week everywhere throughout the nation initiate from
Children's Day for example 14 November and proceed till 20 November. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru
cherished youngsters.
What is World Library Day?
We celebrate library day on 20 February all across our country! They celebrate Library Day 10
July each year. Librarian Day is October 16th in Paraguay. National Library Day is celebrated in
India on 12th of August Every year in memory of Birthday of Mr.

When was the World Book Day celebrated in India?


World Book Day, also known as World Book and Copyright Day or International Day of the Book,
is an annual event organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading, publishing, and copyright. The first World Book Day was
celebrated on 23 April in 1995, and continues to be recognized on that day.

When was the first International Literacy Day celebrated?


It was on 26 October 1966 when UNESCO declared 8 September as International Literacy Day to
remove worldwide issues of illiteracy. The main purpose was not only to combat illiteracy but also to
use it as a tool to empower individuals as well as the whole community. The main aim of this day was
to promote literacy.

"National Book Week" is celebrated in India every year on- 1October 1st to 7th
E-Book Day Celebrated on - March, 8th-14th.
Library Days- 20 December.
Open Access Week - October 18-24.
National Reading Day-
National Reading Day is celebrated on June 19 in India to honour Puthuvayil Narayana Panicker,
popularly known as PN Panicker. He was a renowned teacher and revered as the father of the
library movement in Kerala. He died on June 19, 1995. The Kerala Reading Day was celebrated for
the first time on his death anniversary in 1996 to pay tribute to him. Since then, it is celebrated
on June 19 every year. In 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared June 19 as the National
Reading Day.
