INTRODUCTION
Gender equality or inequality depends on the way people live on a daily basis,
the relationships they have with each other, their choices, their decisions and the
freedom they have or do not have. lead a life consistent with their values.
Gender equality is about social justice and the exercise of human rights. It is a
driver of development and an essential condition for building peaceful,
inclusive, resilient and just societies.
The concept of equality between women and men was set out in 1948 in the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights, then further developed in international
treaties, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of
Discrimination regard to women (1979) and the Beijing Declaration and
Platform for Action (1995). Progress has been made, but there is still no real
gender equality.
