Hiong et al (2022) conducted a study in Hong Kong to explore the accessibility, availability, and

affordability of primary health care (PHC) from a spatial perspective and to understand the social

determinants affecting access to health services in the country. The results revealed that a

substantial proportion of Hong Kong's population enjoys favorable access to PHC. Specifically,

95% of residents were able to access a PHC facility within 15 minutes, and 83% were able to

avail services within a month. However, affordability remained a concern, as only 32% could

afford PHC with the aid of medical insurance and vouchers. Educational attainment and

household income emerged as significant influencers of PHC access and availability. Areas with

a higher concentration of post-secondary educated residents received increased PHC resources,

whereas regions with more high-income households experienced inferior access and availability.
