Science Step 4 Blue and Yellow

Simple and Compound machines Project


 Work in groups of three.
 Make sure you write all the names of the members of the group.
 Choose 2-3 simple machines to feature (examples: lever, pulley,
wheel & axle, inclined plane, wedge, screw)
 Choose 2-3 compound machines to feature (examples: scissors,
bike, car, can opener, nail clippers)
 Find or draw simple colored illustrations to represent each machine.
 Write the name of each machine under its illustration.
 For each simple machine, write 1-2 sentences explaining what it
does/how it works.
 For each compound machine, write 1-2 sentences explaining what
simple machines make it up and very briefly how it works.
 Print or neatly write a title at the top: "Simple and Compound
Machines".
 At the bottom, write a 3-4 sentence explanation contrasting simple
and compound machines.
 Glue or tape the illustrations and text neatly onto a large piece of
poster board (or paper or draw them directly to it).
 Decorate the empty spaces on the poster with drawings or designs
(gears, arrows, motion lines).
