fraction model.
Splash Learning:
Online Game
This app comes as a game that might be
helpful in fraction review, especially at home. In
the game, the child earns coins for getting a
question correctly-- in this case for generating
the appropriate equivalent fraction to the
example displayed on the left hand side. As
highlighted in the diagram, the student has the
ability to shade in the right hand unit in order
to discover the correct numerator, but this is
not required. This practice would mirror what
the child is able to do in the fraction app. The
game is more interactive, as you can see the
green bar on the right gets filled with every
correct answer. The clear purpose and
instructions for the game make it ideal for
review once your student has an understanding
of equivalent fractions through lessons and
other activities. The overall format is fun and
age appropriate; its colorful and fun theme
helps keep students engaged-- allowing students
to be able to us technology to hone their skills
independently!

Fraction:
App/ Website

This app is more for exploration of fractions and

equivalent fractions. There are no questions in
this app, but there are lots of possibilities and
avenues for students to explore. You can switch
between bar fractions and circle fractions, and
choose your own numerator and denominator.
Students are able to layer multiple created
fractions on top of one another in different
colors, thus being able to see if they are
equivalent or not. There is a variety of features
for students to explore, making it ideal to
continue to reference as students engage more
with fractions. As seen on the left hand tab,
there is also drawing and equation options to
encourage students to use the fractions as they
see fit. As a result, games or other challenges
can be put onto the app in order to make it
more fun. The app is sound and allows students
to use pre-made models in order to be able to
accurately explore different fractions.
