METHOD
This section presented the method in conducting the study. It contains the

research design, materials and respondents in the data collection process, and its

gathering procedure that is used in the study.

Design

This study employed a quantitative descriptive correlational research design. The

descriptive technique describes records, analyzes, and interprets current events,

whereas the correlational method determines relationships between and among two or

more variables. Stangor & Walinga (2019) define quantitative descriptive-correlational

design as an observational strategy that describes relationships and collects data

without affecting the subject. This research was conducted on Laureta National High

School students utilizing a survey method and a research-made questionnaire.

Materials/Instruments

This study employed a research-made questionnaire according to Estrada et al.,

(2021) for the independent variable and Dien & Wustqa (2018) for the dependent

variable. The research-made questionnaire used by the researchers helped to connect

the study’s objectives. Two sets in the research-made questionnaire showed root

causes and mitigation strategies for class cutting. The first set is the independent

variable the root causes and mitigation which includes the following indicators:

Attendance Pattern, Socio-economic status, and Parental involvement. The second set

is the dependent variable class cutting which includes the following indicators:

Tardiness records, behavioral incidents, academic performance. Hence, the

researchers used the Likert scale for the interpretation of the data. The survey
questionnaire is distributed to the students at Laureta National High School. The survey

questionnaire is structured in such a way that the respondents can answer it easily. The

following statistical tools are used to analyze the said data is the mean, that used to

determine the Root causes and mitigation strategies for class cutting while the other tool

is the Pearson-r used to determine the significant relationship between the Root causes

and mitigation strategies for class cutting.

Respondents

The respondents of our study focused on all-grade level students currently

enrolled at Laureta national High School. The sample size of this study was 270.

Respondents from the grade 7 with a total of 45, the grade 8 with a total of 45, the

grade 9 with a total of 45, the grade 10 with 45, and in senior high school grade 11 with

a total of 45 and grade 12 with total of 45. Moreover, all these respondents were

selected through simple random sampling. This sampling method is considered a fair

way of selecting a sample from a given population since every member is given equal

opportunities. The inclusion criteria in selecting the respondents of this study are

bonafide student of Laureta National High School. In contrast, the exclusion criteria of

this study are not bonafide students of Laureta National High School from other

programs and courses, and 10 years old and below.

Data Gathering Procedure

To begin, the researchers will seek permission from the research adviser,

research coordinators, statistician, dean of the college, and students to perform the
study at the mentioned institution. After receiving approval, the researchers began

working on the data they need to comply with getting the data questionnaire and

drafting their questions on the theories they have discovered.

To reach the specific purpose of their study, the researchers employed related

questions. After incorporating all of the experts' suggestions and comments into the

questionnaire, the researchers implemented the experts' recommendations and

revisions for validation of the survey questionnaire and retrieval of the questions. The

questionnaire through Google form via online survey was distributed to the respondents,

and data were collected and analyzed statistically to determine the study's outcomes.

The researcher gathered the questionnaire issued to the selected all-year-level Social

Studies respondents to analyze the results. The researchers reviewed each

questionnaire and collected data.
