 This question paper has 7 pages.
 This question paper has 5 Sections A-E.
 Section A has 20 MCQs carrying 1 mark each.
 Section B has 5 questions carrying 2 marks each.
 Section C has 6 questions carrying 3 marks each.
 Section D has 4 questions carrying 5 marks each.
 Section E has 3 case based integrated units of assessment (4 marks each) with sub – parts of
the values of 1, 1 and 2 marks each respectively.
 All questions are compulsory. However, an internal choice in 2 Qs of 5 marks, 2 Qs of 3 marks
and 2 Qs of 2 marks has been provided. An internal choice has been provided in the 2 marks
questions of Section E.

the earth. Express distance of Sun from Earth in standard form.

33. The foot of a ladder is 6 m away from its wall and its top reaches a window 8 m above [5]
the ground, (a) Find the length of the ladder. (b) If the ladder is shifted in such a way
that its foot is 8 m away from the wall, to what height does its top reach?
In figure (i) and (ii), find the values of 𝑥, 𝑦 and 𝑧.

35. In the adjacent figure, area of ∆ AFB is equal to the area of parallelogram ABCD. If [5]
altitude EF is 16 cm long, find the altitude of the parallelogram to the base AB of
length 10 cm. What is the area of ∆DAO, where O is the mid-point of DC?

Case study based questions are compulsory

36. The costs of entry tickets to an amusement park are different for adults and children.
An adult ticket costs ` 1200 and a child ticket costs ` 800. The amusement park is
divided into three regular-shaped sections for rides, ticket room and car parking
respectively as shown in the figure.

Answer the following questions.


(i) What area of amusement park is occupied by the parking space? [1]

(ii) On weekend, 𝑎 adult tickets and 𝑏 child tickets were sold. Write the [1]
expression which shows the money collected through the ticket sale?

(iii) On Monday, the number of adults who visited the amusement park was the [2]
square of the number of children who visited. How much money was collected

What is the perimeter of the amusement park, if 𝑥 denote 35 meters?

37. A circle with radius 14 cm is cut into four equal parts and rearranged to form another
shape as shown in Figure.

(i) Does the perimeter and area change? [1]

(ii) What is the area of the new shape? [1]

(iii) If perimeter does change, what percentage of perimeter does increase or [2]

decrease? If perimeter does not change, give reason.

Find the area enclosed by the given figure. (use 𝜋 = 3.14)

38. The distance that light covers in an earth year is measured in light-years. We measure
the distance between two celestial bodies in space in light years. One light-year is
approximately 9,500,000,000,000 km.

(i) Express one light years in standard form in kilometres. [1]

(ii) A star that is 5 light years from Earth is being observed by astronomers. How [1]
far is the star from the Earth in kilometres?

(iii) Find the value of 𝑘. [2]
