What I Need to Know
In this module, Grade 1 pupils like you will learn how to
regroup a set of ones into sets of tens and sets of tens into hundreds
using objects. The activities are intended to enhance your knowledge
about numbers. You will count the numbers of the objects then
regroup into sets of tens and into sets of hundreds. To get the most
from this module, you need to do the following:
1. Read and understand the Learning Objectives. These will tell
what you should and be able to do at the end of this module.

Learning Objectives: Learners are expected to be attained at the end

of learning through this module.

❖ Regroup sets of ones into sets of tens

❖ Regroup sets of tens into hundreds

Reminders:
1. Read the instructions and bear in mind some precautionary
measures.
2. Before doing the activities, make sure that the materials are
already prepared.
3. Answer the Assessment activities and compare your answers
with the key for correction.
4. Make sure to answer the Post Assessment for you to measure
how much you have learned from the module.

What’s New

Mother went to the market and saw spray bottles which can be used as
alcohol containers. There were 26 spray bottles and she bought them
all.

6
What did mother see in the market?
How many spray bottles were there?
What will she put inside the spray bottles?

What It Is

❖ Regroup sets of ones into sets of tens

How many spray bottles are there? Will you count them?
There are 26 spray bottles.
Will you group the bottles by 10?

7
How many sets of 10s are there?
There are 2 sets of tens.
How many spray bottles were not in a group? There are 6 bottles.
There are 6 sets of ones (1).
So in 26 spray bottles, there are 2 groups/sets of tens
When you regroup sets of ones into tens, you count how many sets
of tens are there.
Additional examples:
a. There are 44 triangles, regroup 44 ones to tens
mm

How many sets or groups of tens are there in 44?

Sets of 10 – 4
There are 4 tens in 44 ones.

b. There are 58 envelopes, regroup 58 ones to tens.

There are 5 sets of 10.
How many ones (1) are there?
There are 8 ones.

❖ Regroup sets of tens into hundreds

Mother bought 100 bars of soap to be given to her neighbors. Help
her pack the soap by 10’s.
What did mother buy? Mother bought bars of soap.
How many bars of soap did mother buy?
She bought 100 soaps.
To whom will she give the bars of soap?
She will give them to her neighbors.
How many boxes will be filled with 10 bars of soap?

Let us find out how many boxes will be filled with the 100 bars of
soap.
Here are the boxes. Help mother fill each box with 10 bars of soap.

10
With the 100 bars of soap, how many boxes are filled with 10 bars of
soap?
There are 10 boxes filled with 10 bars of soap.
How many groups of 100 are there in 10 tens?
There is 1 group of 100 in 10 groups of tens.
When you regroup sets of tens into hundreds, you count how
many sets of hundreds there are.
Example for
Inside the box are apples.

How many apples are there in all? 109 apples

How many boxes of apples are there? 10

How many apples are there in a box? 10
How many apples are there in the ten boxes? 100
You can regroup 10 into hundreds.
There is 1 group of 100 in 109.

In number 342, how many sets of ones, tens and hundreds are there?
